Benefits of a ‘Staycation’
- Save Money
- Less Stress
- Explore your own environment
- Have fun enjoying quality time with your family
Tips when planning your ‘Staycation’
Pretend you’re a Tourist
Do your research and find out what’s unique in the area you are staying.
Have a Plan
Don’t just leave everything to chance. Once you have researched places you would like to visit/things you would like to do separate them into ‘Rainy Day Ideas’ and Sunny Day Activities’, this way you can decide what you are going to do when you know whether ‘The Sun Has Got His Hat On’. Don’t forget to leave ‘free time’ to allow you to relax!
When you have a vague idea of places you might visit look for promotional codes, offers, and discounts. Contact the local Tourist Information Centre and ask their advice on the best ways to purchase tickets for local attractions. You could even ask the hotel/B&B/holiday park if they offer any discounts to local attractions. Here at Ardencote we offer discounts to some fantastic local attractions including West Midlands Safari Park, The National Sealife Centre, Shakespeare’s Houses and Hatton Adventure World.
Have a look for suitable Restaurants/Bars in advance, if you are travelling as a family look for child friendly places to dine or if you are a couple who like to fine dine have a look for award winning restaurants in the area, it’s also an idea to book a table in advance if you can to avoid disappointment…hungry children with nowhere to eat is no fun for anyone!
If you are travelling with children as them what they would like to do, it’s their holiday too after all! If you are staycating with friends make sure you are all on the same wave length as to how you would like to spend your time but remember you don’t have to spend every minute of every day together.
Have a Field Day
Pack some field games and have a field day…pack a ball, play rounders or cricket, fly a kite, play hide ’n’ seek…hours of fun for very little cost! You could even take some prizes for the lucky winners.
Use your Imagination : )
Sometimes a break from routine is all you need!
