Our Cutting-Edge Gym Facilities
Going to the gym for some can feel as natural as showering and eating. However, for most of us we need to try and gather an unearthly energy and motivation to attend. We know the normal reasons for going but logic and reason tend to go out the door after a long day of work when the couch and TV look so much more inviting. We therefore want to share our reasons with you on why you should not skip the gym and become an Ardencote Leisure Member instead.
-
It will make you happy
We all know how amazing we feel after exercise. Both immediately and intensely. Study after study confirms the direct relationship between exercise and an increase in feel-good hormones, with other studies showing that physical activity can help manage and even prevent depression.
Our relaxing facilities can take away the stress and pressure of every day-life leaving you feeling relaxed, reset and ready to conquer your next challenge.
-
It makes your life easier
Being stronger, leaner and happier means that you will be in a better position to attack life. Whether it is moving furniture, carrying a friend home from a party or doing a charity fun run – you will be capable of whatever you set your mind to.
-
It will help you reach your goals
Setting and achieving your fitness goals will help you set and achieve your goals in every other aspect of your daily life. Whether you want that new promotion or you are saving for a luxury holiday – the goal-setting and goal-accomplishing cycle is a learned trait. The more you reinforce hard work with a positive outcome, the more you think of yourself as a winner.
Our Wet Facilities
After your gruelling workout, you may want to start off with our heated indoor swimming pool to relax the muscle or take a trip to our luxury indoor jacuzzi heated to 37 degrees with air massage jets. The jets blow out water infused with air to produce a more vigorous massage and bubble effect. The jacuzzi can be an effective way to treat any sore muscles and joints.
Don’t forget our poolside etiquette that requires you to shower off before you use the facilities (it helps cut down on that germ issue).
After your jacuzzi session, it is time for some well-deserved relaxation. Our steam room is filled with essential oils to help you relax, alter your mood, ease muscle tension, cure and prevent cold and flu symptoms and ultimately combat stress. The fantastic part about steam rooms is that no matter what you are looking to accomplish, a steam room can help you get there. If it is not muscle repair you are after, you may be interested to hear about the beauty benefits of using a steam room: intensive and comprehensive cleansing of the skin, enhanced circulation and blood flow to the skin, skin nourishment, increased body metabolism, emulsifying of fat of sebaceous glands and the enhancement of the development of collagen and skin hydration.
During your first few sessions, we always advise you to start small. When you first join our Leisure Club, start with 5 or 10 minutes and increase to 30 when it feels good to you. When the time is right, you may want to consider some meditation, practice mindfulness or working on your breathing. If the sauna is left to just you and your friends, you may want to have that overdue catch up. The main goal is to just do you, stay off our phone and leave the steam room feeling better than you did when you walked in.
Sauna
Saunas have been used for thousands of years and they are still popular today. Similarly, to a steam room, a sauna can help you unwind and relax. Sweating has been used as a therapy for thousands of years. Did you know 1 in 3 Finnish people use a sauna daily?
Many of us do not actively sweat on a daily basis. The deep sweating has proven to provide us with multiple health benefits. When your core body temperature begins to rise your blood vessels then dilate, causing increased blood flow. As the heat from the blood begins to move towards the skin’s surface your nervous system sends signals to the millions of sweat glands that cover your human body. As the sweat glands become stimulated, they produce sweat which is 99% water. Deep sweating in the sauna can help reduce levels of lead, copper, zinc, nickel and mercury which are all absorbed just from interacting with our daily environments.
A recent study has revealed that regular sauna use (4-7 times per week) for 19 minutes lowers the risk for both Alzheimer’s and Dementia. Furthermore, it has shown that a deeper and more relaxed sleep can result from regular sauna use. In addition, the release of endorphins and an elevated then reduced body temperature will help facilitate the perfect sleep.
Remember, you can also make use of our outdoor heated hot tub all year round and our outdoor swimming pool, during seasonal periods.
Alternative Work Outs
We truly appreciate that a gym workout is not the most perfect work out. That is why racket sports have always been at the heart of the Ardencote Leisure Club. We have three-glass backed Squash and Racquetball Courts. We have a strong competitive element with a collection of teams playing in the Warwickshire Leagues. We also have three tennis courts, two of which have all-weather surfaces and are floodlit. Tennis is an increasingly popular sport here at the Ardencote and we hold regular tournaments throughout the year with the emphasis very much on fitness in a friendly, family atmosphere.
Squash is an exciting, indoor-court game suitable for all ages and abilities. All you need to play is a ball, a racket, a friend and one of our modern squash courts. A squash game lasts around forty minutes, so it can easily fit into your busy life without any excuses. You can even bring the kids on the weekends to keep them active and most importantly, knackered for your all-important Saturday night.
In addition to the obvious health benefits, playing squash will promote good coordination, agility, flexibility and help you build excellent hand-eye coordination. Furthermore, you can also feel the benefits of greater self-confidence and self-esteem, better social skills and an opportunity to make new friends.
Tennis is often referred to as the ‘sport of a lifetime’ and studies have revealed that people who participate in tennis for three-hours cut in half their risk of death from any cause.
Whether you are picking up your racquet after years of being out of practice or you want to try a new sport – being an Ardencote Leisure member will provide you with that opportunity.
