What is wellness?
Before we share why wellness is important to you, it is important to reflect on the meaning of wellness.
Wellness is not an easy concept to define despite the word being used in our everyday language. The World Health Organisation describes wellness as “an active process of becoming aware of and making choices towards a healthy and fulfilling life. Wellness is more than being free from illness, it is a dynamic process of change and growth… a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity”.
There are various pillars of wellbeing from physical, emotional, nutritional, medicinal, social, financial and spiritual.
At Ardencote, we embrace a ‘wellness-lifestyle’, an approach that focuses on healthy living, balance and re-connection between the body and the mind. Studies have strongly revealed that there are endless benefits to an individual regularly exercising and visiting a Destination Spa to reset and refocus.
That being said, a recent project has revealed that Dr. Bruce Lipton demonstrates that our thoughts have the power to change our biochemistry and as a result, change our physical body. His research shows that our biology is not determined so much by our DNA but instead by our environmental influences. That environment is governed by our thoughts and perceptions. The study revealed that over 80% of illness and disease has a direct relation to stress. Meaning it is essential to always work towards reducing your stress levels where possible.

Looking after our Leisure Club Members’ & Corporate Hotel Guests’ Wellness
Caring for our local community is important to Ardencote, whether that is supporting a local charity event or aiding everyone to stay fit, healthy and to take control or their wellness. That is why, every Wednesday from 6-8pm we give our Ardencote Leisure Club Members and Corporate Hotel Guests full access to our Destination Spa for FREE.
The benefit of doing so is that each week, our Ardencote Leisure Club Members know that they have a safe and relaxing haven to return to. We offer them the perfectly cultivated relaxing environment where they can sit, think and process within a space specifically designed to give them the me-time that they truly deserve.

Of course, changing our personal habits is up to each of us as individuals. However, as a large employer within Warwickshire, we have a tremendous opportunity to help our employees so, they can live healthier lives allowing them to set the tone for other employees.
